Reseller Information
What is a Reseller?
Traditionally, a reseller 'sold (or resold)' a hosting companies packages under their own hosting company name and branding, and are charged a discounted price for the packages.
Web HSP offers a traditional reseller account at 40% discount to our resellers. We also offer Flex Reseller Plan where you can create your own hosting packages. With a Flex account, you are charged for the bulk package, e.g. web space and bandwidth for a monthly fee. You can have unlimited hosting accounts and you control the resources for each package you offer. You can over subscribe bandwidth, but you cannot over subscribe disk quota on a Flex Plan.
We also offer VPSes with both cPanel and Plesk. cPanel and Plesk are designed for web hosts for shared web hosting and can offer reseller hosting as well. You have host level (root) access. Technically, you are not reselling our service, as a VPS is just like a dedicated server from a functionality standpoint.
On all of the above options, you are your own Web Host. All options include branding and your own nameservers.
Web Hosting is one of the easiest and least expensive businesses to set up. Many hosting companies started out with reseller hosting packages from their web host.
For Web Designers, being a reseller allows them to offer their design customers a custom package and enables them to create a recurring revenue stream. Many of our resellers are Web Designers.
Resellers customers are theirs to support and maintain. We have no direct contact with reseller customers.
Are there any restrictions to being a Reseller?
You and your accounts are required to adhere to Web HSP's Terms and Conditions for Shared Hosting Servers. Resellers can download a 'generic' copy of our Terms and Conditions from our web site under Reseller Resources. Active resellers are free to brand and change them for their specific products and services.
Please note that Reseller packages are intended for small to medium sized sites. The Flex account is not appropriate for one busy site. Large busy sites tend to use excessive resource usage and are more appropriately hosted on a VPS or Dedicated Server.
Can I have my own name servers and SSL certificate?
Yes. On the Traditional and Flex Reseller plans, two custom nameservers using your domain name are included. On a VPS, the server is yours, so you can set up as many nameservers as you need.
You can also purchase your own SSL certificate for your customers to use.
On the Shared Hosting servers (not on VPS) you and your customers can also use our shared SSL certificate that we install on the server. The SSL URL will be provided in your welcome email. The Shared SSL Certificate will be something like https://secure##.vosn.net/~username. ##being an identifying number for the server you are hosted on.
If you forget the URL for the Shared Server you are on, you can also find it listed on the Server Information page under Support > Shared Hosting Support > Server Information.
What Reseller Tools do you provide?
There is a Reseller Web Host Manager that allows you to setup and completely manage your hosting packages.
With the Traditional Reseller Plan, you will have the ability to select from our packages. On the Flex Plan, you will have the ability to set up your own packages. You will need to set up at least one package in order to open an account.
Who Provides Technical Support?
As a reseller for Web HSP, you will be responsible for providing general support to your customrs. Web HSP will doall system administration necessary, as well as be your second line technical support engineers if you have a problem and can't answer it.
Who handles the billing to my customers?
Resellers are responsible for providing billing services to their clients. Web HSP will invoice the reseller as appropriate to the plan you select.
Refer to our Reseller Resources page for billing software that integrates with cPanel.
What DNS changes will need to be made once I receive my Account information?
If you are using new name servers, contact the registrar where your domain was registered and ask them to 'create' these nameserveres in their database. Most registrars allow you to do this in their control panel interface. You will then need to change the nameservers for the domain itself to these nameservers. You will then provide your customers with your nameservers for them to use.
If you already have your name servers setup and are moving from another host, you only need to change the IP of the nameservers to their new IPs that we provide you. This change needs to be done at the registrar the domain is registered with. In order to avoid any down time, you should do this AFTER you move ALL accounts associated with this name server.
24 to 72 hours after you have completed the change at your registrar, your nameservers should be propagating to our server.
How are resold accounts billed?
Traditional Accounts: Resellers are invoiced for all resold accounts on record as of the end of the month. The fees are imported into an invoice on the first of the month for the previous month with the discounted rate. The domains will be listed on the invoice. Any account over bandwidth quotas will be invoiced for over quota fees. Since our quotas are so generous, this is a rare occurance. Additional IP fees are also included.
Flex Accounts: Flex accounts are invoiced on their anniversary date, depending on the term, for the Flex package rate. Additional IP fees are also included. Any Flex account over bandwidth quota is invoiced an over bandwidth quota fee on a monthly basis. Since our Bandwidth quota is so generous, this is a rare occurance.
